All these wines were quite nice, but there aren't any screaming deals.

  • 2007 Ferrando Erbaluce di Caluso La Torrazza 88 Points

    Italy, Piedmont, Northern Piedmont, Erbaluce di Caluso

    Muted nose. Smells rich though. Brighter on the palate. Medium bodied. Very nice and refreshing. 88-89

  • 2007 Monastero Suore Cistercensi Lazio Coenobium 92 Points

    Italy, Latium, Lazio

    Full, rich, beautiful nose. Incredible, actually, with sweet fruit, maybe smoke, and some white pepper, along with herbs I can't really name. Slightly chalky on the palate. Fascinating stuff. Has a slight nuttiness on the finish. I could spend a couple hours with one glass of this stuff. 91-92

  • 2008 Domaine Faillenc Sainte-Marie Corbières Pas des Louves 87 Points

    Real fruit forward nose. Lots of body, but with nice acidity cutting through the slight gycerol feel. Nice, but a little more then I want to pay for the casual use I'd use it for. 87-88

  • 2007 Domaine du Bagnol Cassis Cuvée Marquis de Fesques Blanc 89 Points

    Medium rich nose. Soft melon fruits. Gorgeous length. Rich, silken white wine, with a little grip on the finish. 89+

  • 2007 Domaine Cheveau Mâcon-Fuissé Les Grandes Bruyères 88 Points

    This here is some good chard. Bright chard flavors on the nose. Medium body, but done in a clean style. Bright acids, really nice balance. Clean and refreshing. Good. 88-89

    Sweet, soft red delicious nose. Tons of focus on this wine. With of course a really nice, linear acidity. Laser like. Quite nice. 89+

  • 2006 Pascal Granger Juliénas Cuvée Spéciale 89 Points

    Pretty nose. Raspberries. Great fruit, but carries some minerality as well. Tannic grip. Very pretty and elegant, with a long finish. Serious, without trying to be. 89+

  • 2007 Château Massiac Minervois 87 Points

    8/28/09: Pretty funky. Hard red berries, like cran. But then the mouthfeel becomes softer. Minerally (Iron). Bright acidity. Really changes in the glass. At one point real barnyardy, but then that went away. I like this, wish it was a couple bucks cheaper. 87ish

    6/5/09: Very ripe on the nose. But on the palate, the acidity balances that out. Some iron notes. Not as smooth and suave as the Monpertuis, this has a rustic animal side to it. 88

  • 2007 Ferrando Canavese Rosso La Torrazza 91 Points

    Italy, Piedmont, Northern Piedmont, Canavese

    Tremendous nose. Full of savory notes, including sage. Pretty full on the palate, and surprisingly smooth. Lots of different flavors mingling in here. And that nose. This rocks, and the price is quite reasonable as well.
