This was a great time with Tom, Mark, Journey, Mike, Steven and Sonia. I continue to try new wines and find a number that are interesting and make me want to expand my knowledge. The Ann Gros gave me a glimpse of Burgundy to hunt for, although hopefully at a less expensive price point. It was beautiful. The Huet was tasty as well. White burgundy, was interesting. It changed more than anything else on the table in the two hours+ we were there (other than the Krug) and was nice. A good time with great friends and wine.
1996 Krug Champagne Vintage Brut
France, Champagne
Terribly tight and sour citrus right out of the bottle, so much as to be unenjoyable. After two hours, we revisited it and the sourness had calmed down some and the lemon became enjoyable, rather than mouth-puckering. I'd give this many years or lots of air before I had it again. OK-

2002 Domaine Huet Vouvray Demi-Sec Clos du Bourg
France, Loire Valley, Touraine, Vouvray
Sweet with some adic and honey, dark gold "pee" color, not quite enough acid to balance out the sweetness, but this was nice.

1994 Zind-Humbrecht Riesling Clos Häuserer
France, Alsace
Some petrol on palate and good acid, but drops off on the midpalate and became a bit hollow, but ended up a long finish. Good match for the peppery salad I had.

1996 Domaine Leflaive Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Clavoillon
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru
Lots of acid, austere, it got better and better with time. Ok+. After an hour+, I got some sesame on the nose.

1997 Domaine Anne Gros Richebourg
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Richebourg Grand Cru
Bright and translucent, dark sweet fruit, plums perhaps, with some spice. Very tasty. I wish all burgs tasted like this. I'd be a convert. Yes!

2000 Domaine Dujac Clos St. Denis
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos St. Denis Grand Cru
Slightly cloudy, strawberry red color, pepper and game on the nose, acid on the palate with oak, kind of thin and lacking heft. Ok-.

2000 Domaine Armand Rousseau Père et Fils Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos St. Jacques
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
Admittedly, burgundy is not my thing, but sometimes I get some spice or fruit that is appealing. Not in this case. This was pretty flat and non-descript to me. No.

1995 Château Troplong Mondot
France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru
Drying, gobs of black tea, bitter herbs, made me desperate for drink of water. No.
