A charity walkaround wine tasting to benefit Profugo, a non-profit focused on developing and deploying a new sustainable development model. This wine tasting featured 12 organic and biodynamic wines -- 2 from each wine-producing continent. It was an interesting challenge to identify and track down the wines.

Some nice wines -- some awful -- but a great event. Thanks to all who came, and hopefully we'll see you again in the future.

2007 Richmond Plains Sauvignon Blanc 79 Points
New Zealand, South Island, Nelson
not the worst wine of the night, but an awful example of Sauvignon Blanc. Got the grapefruit and herbal notes, but they were muddied and the finish was a bit offensive. Not acidic enough, which made this feel flabby.

2008 Santa Julia Torrontés Organica 90 Points

This was awesome for the price -- certainly the best value of the night, and a great wine altogether. stone fruit (apricot) and floral character dominates on the lively nose -- the palate is refreshing and easy drinking.. med (-) finish. great deal sub-$10

2007 Golan Heights Winery Chardonnay Yarden Odem Vineyard 88 Points
Israel, Galilee, Golan Heights
nice, buttery chardonnay. Although oak treatment is definitely there, there is a nice crisp green apple acidity that makes this an easy drinker. medium (-) finish.

awful. putrid, sour -- pretty sure this was not a bad bottle, but boy was it a bad wine.

2006 Weingut Alexander Gysler Weinheimer Riesling Kabinett 89 Points

light, refreshing off-dry style riesling. drinks like juice, but there is some complexity hidden here, with some floral notes, and spiced nuttiness. everyone loved this. med(-) finish
