    Portugal, Douro

    Another fantastic showing. The richness of a barrel fermented white Burgundy, with a wonderful combination of fat and chalky acidity. Hints of spice, lees and cloves. Mouthfilling and long. Stunning stuff.

Homemade pizza and Salmon.

    France, Provence, Bandol

    Lovely combination of berries and minerals. Strawberry, cranberries, watermelon and a hint of spice. Complex, tangy and long on the palate.

  • 2005 Domaine Robert Chevillon Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Perrières 85 Points

    France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru

    Disappointing. At first, it seemed reduced, with prominent sulfur like notes. Some cherry and earth tried to peek out, but this was hard and ungiving. No real flaw, just the wrong time to open this wine, I would guess.

  • 2007 Domaine les Grands Bois Rasteau Cuvée Marc 92 Points

    France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Rasteau

    My first impression was "purple". Purple in color, taste, and in the way my teeth looked after I drank this. Dense and fleshy but with a nice traditional mix of Rhone-like flavors: plum, tar, and warm stones. Primarily fruit-driven at this point, this a a big, juicy, pulpy almost solid type of wine that really needs some time to harmonize. Super-fun!

Flight 4 - CHEESE COURSE (1 Note)

Serra de Estrella and Bucheron.

  • 2004 Quinta do Crasto Douro Vinha da Ponte 92 Points

    Portugal, Douro

    This was a big, ripe, black-fruit driven wine, with notes of licorice and anise. Very highly extracted with a large amount of structure, almost like a dry vintage port. This is not as enjoyable as it could have been due to the fact that it was not decanted, which in retrospect it definitely needed. Lots of potential, but a bit monolithic right now.
