Introduction
A few of us gathered at Le Belle Vie to try a unique mix of wines that went perfectly with a multi course sampler off the dinner menu. In attendance were Steve, Craig, Dave M, and me. Craig brought a mystery wine that had us all stumped. As always it was a very enjoyable evening with great food, wine, and conversation.
NV Vranken Champagne Demoiselle (brut) 89 Points
France, Champagne
Nose: Fresh with lemon undertones. Palate: Bright acid entry, very dry. Clean finish and well made. Good QPR bubbly.

2007 Siro Pacenti Rosso di Montalcino 90 Points
Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Rosso di Montalcino
Nose: Deep, dark fruits. Palate: Dark fruit showing with tannins arriving mid palate. Spicy and lengthy finish. Enjoyable Rosso.

2005 Château Thivin Côte de Brouilly 90 Points

Nose: Sweet floral with raspberry undertones. Palate: Very pleasant dark fruits and decent acid. Very solid finish. Clean and well made. We all guessed this mystery wine as a Burg. Who would have thought Gamay? At least we were not too far off. Good mystery wine.

2005 Nicolas Potel Nuits-Saint-Georges 92 Points

Nose: Delicate at first but after air put on weight revealing deep, inky qualities with subtle tar and sweet flowers (lilacs). Palate: Solid acid front end balanced by expressive red fruits. Clean, lengthy finish. Great stuff and my WOTN for the reds. Given this wine is still a baby it should be interesting to see the evolution going forward.

2004 Domaine de la Janasse Châteauneuf-du-Pape Vieilles Vignes 91 Points

Nose: Deep, dark and brooding nose with a minty quality after glass aeration. Palate: Dark fruit with soft spices and a lush, full finish. Really nice wine.

1994 Zind-Humbrecht Gewurztraminer Goldert Vendange Tardive 93 Points
France, Alsace, Alsace Grand Cru
Nose: Spicy with floral and peach aromas. Palate: Spice and acid attack on the front end. Unreal viscosity, so rich and thick yet buttressed by the acid this wine is still very lively at 15 years of age. Flavors of sweet peach and some apricot. This wine was amazing and my overall WOTN. Thanks Dave!
