Brian Tite, proprietor of this small distributorship in the Chicago area, and Anvil Club member, was on hand to present a handful of wines from his portfolio. All in all, I felt many of the wines poured tonight represented decent value at the price points, and are worth a look should you come across them.

  Surprisingly tasty for $9/bottle. Notes of grassy citrus fruit which follow through on the palate. 86-87 pts.

• 2007 Ledgewood Creek Chardonnay Three Clone Estate Grown 88 Points

  USA, California, North Coast, Suisun Valley

  Pale yellow color. Notes of banana and tropical fruit. Rather full-bodied, with a slightly creamy mouthfeel carrying tropical fruit tones on the palate. Well-balanced and very enjoyable. 88-89 pts, and another good value at under $15.

  USA, California, Napa Valley, Yountville

  80% Cab Sauv and 20% Merlot, spending 22 months in barrel, 50% new French oak. Dark fruit, plum and spice notes. Juicy acidity on the palate, with blackberry and dark fruit flavors, with a decent, spice-tinged finish. 88-89 pts.

  Dark garnet color. Notes of violets, rapberries and dark fruit. Full-bodied, with firm, but slightly sweet tannins. Flavors of dark fruit on the palate. Very well-balanced, with a decent finish.

  Notes of herbs, red fruit and clay. Really well-balanced, with red and dark fruit flavors, along with spice and herbs. Long, fruit dominated finish.
