Bright yellow color. Lemon and lime nose with some minerality. Tastes of apple, melon, apricot, lemon and caramel. Out of balance. Tart acidity. No depth or complexity in the monolithic finish. Something is really off with this wine compared to the last bottle. Shut down or off? 13% alcohol. My first contribution of the night. Unrated.
Pale yellow color. Limestone nose that is devoid of any fruit. Detecting TCA in the front of the palate with a sour lime fruit profile all the way through the finish. Bummer. I had no idea what this wine was undoubtedly due to the cork taint. 13% alcohol. Brought by Jeff.

The finish was a tart disaster for the first hour or two but wow did this wine come around and blossom. Ended up with a beautiful finish with nice depth and complexity. 13% alcohol. Red ruby color. Perfumed blackcurrant nose. Tastes of blackberry, currant, cherry, leather, cedar, charcoal and caramel. Sweet tannins. Medium bodied. Very well balanced. Incredible mid palate depth and complexity. Long elegant finish that is quite soft and feminine. On fire tonight and completely open for business. 13% alcohol. My third contribution of the evening.
Dark purple color. Black fruit nose with some toasted oak. Tastes of blackberry, earth, soy sauce, violet, licorice and barbecued meats. Chewy tannins. Full bodied. Ripe finish with some heat. My guess was new world Petite Sirah. This wine seems manipulated and out of balance. Was told it was not representative of other bottles. Rating withheld. 14% alcohol. Brought by Mark.

Dark garnet color. Cherry fruit nose. Tastes of raspberry, earth, garrigue, pepper and spice. Well balanced. Elegant mid palate and finish. I correctly guessed the Grenache based blend from Chateauneuf along with the year but missed the Domaine. A beautiful showing from a house I know little about. 14.5% alcohol. Brought by Jeff.

2005 Domaine d'Orfeuilles Vouvray Silex d'Orfeuilles Flawed

2005 Prager Riesling Smaragd Steinriegl 93 Points
