3 Blind Cabs

Interesting tasting... looking back on my notes/conclusions and the wines/notes of others:

1. The Melchor is certainly a quality Chilean Cabernet... if I didn't know it were Cabernet I could have easily called this Syrah... without the vegetal note I could see placing this wine in Graves in a vintage like 03...

2. The Dehlinger is also a quality wine... it seems consistent that his Cabernet wines evolve slowly and have a lot of very intense, primary fruit. I haven't had a really old Cab of his and am not sure that his Cabs will give you a unit of layered tertiary complexity for each unit of loss of fruit pleasure as they age though. Wine hides its alcohol pretty well, I was off by nearly 1%.

3. The 99 d'Armailhac sure has generated a lot of controversy... the wine has Brett no doubt about it... whether that is a + or - for you depends on your threshold for it and your personal preferences... it's more on the 4-ethyl catechol horsey side than 4-ethyl phenol medicinal side if that helps anyone.
