  • 2009 Wirra Wirra Sauvignon Blanc Hiding Champion

    Australia, South Australia, Mount Lofty Ranges, Adelaide Hills

    13% vol. Exotic flavours, great nose. Lovely full long finish. Medium acidity much lower than a NZ Sauvignon Blanc. Probably my wine of the night.

  • 2009 Shaw and Smith Sauvignon Blanc

    13% vol. Completely muted nose. In fact I though the bottle wasn't right, but the palate was fine. Seemed better balance than the Wirra Wirra Hiding Champion but the finish was much shorter.

  • 2008 Wakefield Sauvignon Blanc

    13.5% vol. Guessed it seemed kind of high in alcohol. It was a little hot. Muted nose, medium finish compared to the other wines in the flight.

  • 2003 Nepenthe Sauvignon Blanc

    Slightly oaked Sauvignon Blanc. Reminded me of a Bordeaux style Sauvignon Blanc. For a 2003 it was holding on very well for a 6 year old.

    Barrel-fermented Bordeaux mix of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillion. Needs a few years for everything to integrate.

  • 2006 Nepenthe Chardonnay Unwooded

    This is a nice Chardonnay, not oaked like some from the Adelaide Hills. Designed to be drunk young and would go well with seafood.

  • 2004 Petaluma Chardonnay

    Australia, South Australia, Mount Lofty Ranges, Piccadilly Valley

    100% new oak and you can tell. After a while just smelling the glass just reminded me of a barrel room full of new French oak barrels. This needs a good bit of time as the oak needs to mellow out.
