All wines opened 6 to 7 hours before the commencement of the tasting.
Origins dating to 1966 with David Lett. David Adelsheim planted in 1971. Also Dick Erath and Dick Ponzi.
Generalizations made that fruit is picked between 2 and 2.5 tons/acre. Yields lower than this produce jammy flavors.
Not low acid. Not always fruit driven. Show vintage character.
2 soil types - 1.)marine - valley floor - strawberry fruit. 2.) lava based - hills - more tannin, more spice.
'03 to '06 were hot years. '07 is a return to form.

2007 Château Bianca Pinot Noir

Light extraction apparent in the color. hint of green. lime leaf/citronella. light with cranberry fruit. randy says "burnished wood." vaguely grapey. RS. texture of Kool-Aid.

2007 Adelsheim Pinot Noir Willamette Valley

there is a dark note in the nose. rye. strawberry fruit and dark earth. light spicy. dark cracked wheat. graphite. palate displays light spice. Medium+ acid. nice lingering medium finish.
"elegant producer. higher acid. longer lived wines championed over fruit and power."

2007 A to Z Wineworks Pinot Noir

brighter acid on the nose. leaner rhubarb. orange peel. grapefruit pith. citrus peel. a sweet red note in the nose. easy structure and fruit in cranberry-town.
A to Z is a negociant sourcing from 180 vineyards. Owned by NW Core. Wine is now made at Rex Hill, also owned by NW Core.

2006 Rex Hill Pinot Noir Reserve

Strawberry fruit with oak notes present on the nose. full strawberry fruit. oak adds quite a presence on the nose. palate exhibits a similar style. nose maybe cherry fruit. dark earth part of the oak expression. M+ acid.
Rex Hill is the closest to Portland. They use mostly estate fruit.
