  • 2006 Hestia Sémillon 87 Points

    USA, Washington, Columbia Valley

    Tasted blind - Pale to medium lemon, clear throughout. Tight earthy nose of apple with noticeable oak. Flavours of smoky oak and baked apple. Medium to full body, medium acidity, medium finish. A little too oaky at this stage for my palate. Good.

  • 2006 Chateau Ste. Michelle & Dr. Loosen Riesling Eroica 87 Points

    Tasted blind - Pale lemon, clear throughout. Spritzy nose of citrus fruits, minerality. Similar flavours but with some pitted fruit notes as well. Medium to high acidity, medium body, medium finish. Balanced. Good.

    Tasted blind - Medium ruby, clear throughout. Nose of vanilla oak, red and black fruits. Sweeter flavours of cherries, black fruits, noticeable oak. High tannin, medium to full body, long finish, medium firm tannins. Little heat on the finish. Needs time. Good. 87+

  • 2004 Long Shadows Wineries Syrah Sequel 90 Points

    Tasted blind - Medium to deep ruby, clear throughout. Nose of dark chocolate and darker fruits. Flavours of dark fruits and underlying earthy notes. Medium to full body, medium tannin, medium to high acidity, medium finish that gives some slight heat. I think a few more years and this will be even better. Drink or hold. Excellent. 90+

    Tasted blind - Medium to deep ruby, clear throughout. Nose of white pepper, dark fruits, and some sherry-like notes. Flavours of dark fruits. Full body, medium acidity, tannin and finish. Quite boozy on its own, but the food helps. Needs time to settle down. Good. 87+

  • 2005 Leonetti Cellar Cabernet Sauvignon Walla Walla Valley 90 Points

    Tasted blind - Deep ruby, clear throughout. As Coop and Bill noted, this has lots of stuff. Youthful nose of white pepper, loads of red and black fruit, oak as well. Jammy flavours of red and black fruits, some candied fruits. Medium to full body, medium tannins and acidity, medium finish. This needs serious time. Excellent. 90+

    Tasted blind - Medium ruby, bricking. Light earthy nose with some underlying red fruits. Sweeter red fruit flavours. While this wine is probably past its peak, I enjoyed it. Drink up. Good.

    Tasted blind - Medium ruby. Nose of White pepper, dill and earthy red fruits. Sweeter red fruit flavours. Well integrated tannins. As Bill said, this was neat to drink in the same flight as the 05 Leonetti cab. Drink now. Very good.
