I do enjoy Oregon PG's. Apples and pears on a nose that shows very nice aromatics. Nice fruit as well on a pretty well balanced palate. Tasty stuff, and clean on the finish. 87-88
10/10/09: Apples, floral characters. Off dry. Nice richness. I like this better then last time, but was able to focus on it a little more. 87
9/25/09: Maybe I'm just not that into most Gewurz. The low acidity always bugs me. This is a little sweet, but does show solid gewurz qualities. Low acidity. Ok. 85-87
Interesting spices on the nose. Clean and bright, but kind of boring, as if it's trying to hard to be lean and minerally. Nice acidity, even a little bit of tannic bite. Good. 86-87
This smelled exactly like my son's mint chocolate cup cakes that he had for his birthday. I mean, it was uncanny. So much mint on that nose. Big and rich on the palate. It's fine if you like th e style.
Tasty stuff, with lots of earth, smoke and fruit. Very rich. But it's one of those wines where the first few sips are the best because of its uniqueness. But the richness that isn't really that well balanced starts to wear on the palate, like so many S.A. wines. If they could just make them a little more restrained I think we'd have something.
