  • 2006 Louis Bernard Côtes du Rhône Blanc 83 Points

Spicy bitter nose. Definite bitterness on the palate, light, no sweetness or roundness. Lemon. Acidic. $11

  • 2003 Paul Jaboulet Aîné Crozes-Hermitage Blanc Domaine Raymond Roure 93 Points

    France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Crozes-Hermitage

Sweet nose, with gobs of banana, a little raisin, and a creaminess - and almost notes of a light red wine. 14.5% alcohol gives this a viscous texture. Wow, massive christmas cookie. Nutty, spicy, very interesting. Perfect age, this is drinking beautifully. Fairly big body, medium acidity. Finish goes on for days. Delicious, and a steal for $21.

  • 2007 Louis Benard Côtes du Rhône 85 Points

France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Côtes du Rhône

Slightly candied nose, almost like a Beaujolais, a little grapey. Medium tannins/acid/body. Lots of young red berries, a little talc. A little spicy and tart. Ok quaffer, but kind of generic.

  • 2006 Domaine de Durban Beaumes-de-Venise Cuvée Prestige 87 Points

    France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Beaumes-de-Venise

I'm fairly sure on the vintage on this one. Big round nose, a little like a poor man's Chateauneuf, with some talc-y black fruit. Light-medium tannins and acid, medium body. Smooth, but slightly simple. Pleasant. Definite step up from a basic Cotes du Rhone. Elegant.

    France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Vacqueyras

Hot meaty nose, with big black cherries. Rich, ripe, extracted. Medium+ tannins/acid/body. Black plum, slight heat, light talc.

  • 2003 E. Guigal Saint-Joseph 89 Points

Sausage+ on the nose, slightly perfumed (but that might have been another taster). Tannic, fairly acidic, medium body. Juicy. Big. Food wine. $27
