Flight 1 (2 Notes)

  • 2007 Antica Terra Pinot Noir 91 Points

    USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley

Aromatically the wines were similar with the Antica showing more fruit. Also has a stemy/green quality that is very appealing. Smells terrific but I could see the green elements putting some people off. Darker and showing more oak than the EW. Very pretty and pure on the palate although slightly bitter on the finish. Tannins are fitting in nicely. Showed a little less candied than the EW. Time is needed to sort the jumbled finish.

  • 2007 Evesham Wood Pinot Noir La Grive Bleue 90 Points

USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Eola - Amity Hills

Very subtle aromatics. Has a woody quality that is interesting and different. On the second day the aromatics showed more spice and pine and seemed more seamless. Shows more red fruit than the Antica and the finish isn't as persistent but is more balanced. Lots of fruit and spice going on here and says Oregon to me. What a nice vintage. Good tannins on this too. Does show more sweetness but nice purity.
