Introduction

This is a new monthly event that is a good way to start a weekend in wine country. Wines were paired with cheeses selected by Lori Guck-Ames fromage sommelier at the Browns Valley Market. My wife and I stopped here before attending the NVSL "Art Strings" Renaissance Feast at Vintage 1870 in Yountville. Nancy painted one of the 10 auctioned violins that raised almost $10K for the Napa Valley Symphony.

Paired with 2 year old gouda this wine was a great start for "First Friday". Golden color matched with mellow flavor.

Flight 3 - 2001 Amador County Zinnfandel (1 Note)

2001 Carneros Creek Winery Zinfandel Esola Ranch

USA, California, Sierra Foothills, Amador County

The trick in making this wine is getting the grapes from the Escola Ranch in Amador County to the winery in Carneros. Picking in the dark is the only way. This powerful zinfandel is deep red withh strong blackberry flavors.

Closing

Napa photographer Mike Tikinsaky presented three of his series "Western Entropy", "Grape", and "fun" that will be on display for the month of October. Grape #2 was our favorite.
