  • 2006 Celler Cal Pla Priorat Mas d'en Compte 90 Points

    Spain, Catalunya, Priorat

Massive nose, unfortunately dominated by bitter oak and cigarette butt. Much better on the palate, very smooth and rich. It's still oaky, and has some heat, but it's balanced with delicious black plum and grape jelly. Light tannins, medium+ acidity, big body. Not overripe. Ager? Fruit forward new world style. $50

Oddly shy nose, dusty red fruit. Slightly gritty tannins, acidic, medium+ body. Big, extracted. Smooth, but with some heat. Ager in the old world style, not yet ready for primetime. $45
