First Growths (slightly disappointing) and an amazing Port

Introduction

Last night one of my tasting group met to drink some first growths. It was a bit disappointing in that while all of the wines were good, not a single one was worth the money being asked today. Perhaps if the 86 Lafite was not corked, that may have justified the stratospheric reputations of these wines. Granted, these were not top vintages, but these are all $200 a bottle or much more. That's just crazy talk compared to how they showed. This group is an experienced bunch of tasters. While there is little agreement on the WOTN, etc., we all agreed that we were just not wowed. However, our host John V. rescued us with just an amazing 66 Port.
