    Lovely champagne with noticeable aging from the yeasty bready notes. Still very fresh with citrus and grapefruits dominating with a topping of butter richeness and some sweetness. Not as heady as the 729 but more light- footed and crisp.

Flight 2 - Margaret River (2 Notes)

    Bright purple hue. Capsicums and spice lifted, pungent violets like a lift of viognier. Kinda alc but blew off to reveal fresh cherries. Slight mothball tainted but almost chocalatey plummish currants and brambly spices on the side. Moderate length but at most a two dimensional wine. Needs more aging time to round off.

  • 1998 Voyager Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot 84 Points

    Integrated woodspice, scented sandalwood and a heavy dose of menthol mint notes. Kinda exotic smelling at the beginning but got progressively more sterile and minty smelling like a hospital! Juicy warn mouth of christmas berries. Very comfortable and lingering beautfully and friendly in the mouth. Touch of hot chocolate but lots of well aged round delicious restrained dark purple fruits. The wine increasingly became undeniably aussie with a strong dose of menthol notes.

Flight 3 - Coonawara (2 Notes)

    Mint chocolate, tobacco levaes, cigar smells with cassis. A rusty sharpness and zingyness on taste but overtaken by more tobacco leaves, earthy cigar leaves , dark prunish fruits and rounded by well aged cedar oak presenting nuances of dark roast. Just a tad bit too short on the finish but this is the most distinct and intriguing wine of the bunch. This is a cigar / tobacco beast! A distinguished gentleman in the making and the most bordeaux like. However, for now, I am not really a smoker.

  • 1998 Parker Coonawarra Estate Terra Rossa First Growth 88 Points

    Round cassis covered complexly layered and compacted nose of all manners of dark ripe fruits topped up with milk chocolate and a topping of milo powder and a lift of green capsucums with a touch of eucalyptus. Gorgeous and amazing ethereally nicely ripened fruit sweetness provided tons of enjoyment. Some savory beefy undertones persist. The brightest and most polished fruit of the bunch and also the most well integrated and complete . Brilliantly made.

    Rich opulent smelling , almost like a sauternes. Lots of ripe apricots, rich and unctous with a bit of cigarette smokiness. A bit monolithic in its ripeness but does have a streak of acid backbone making it absolutely quaffable.
