Flight 1 - Lunch at Loy Sum Juan (4 Notes)

  • 2007 Paul Beucher Gewurztraminer Personelle 82 Points

Spiced white florals. Quite a full nose. Delightful with a tone of seriousness. Spiced lychees and poached pears. Not too bad.

  • 1997 Josmeyer Riesling Hengst 77 Points

    France, Alsace, Alsace Grand Cru

Melted plastics, honeysuckled, aged white savory tones with a small stream of soy sauce or white wine vinegary undertones. Still dry but shows an impression of sweetness. Nose is not very generous.

  • 2003 Carrick Pinot Noir 82 Points

New Zealand, South Island, Otago, Bannockburn

Dense dark cherries. Fruit forward but does have the bosomy fruits to show and it is not afraid to display it out. Almost felt like a bit of merlot was added in the mix. Round and dark juicy wine.

  • 2004 Château Fleur Cardinale 84 Points

France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru

Scented sandalwood and spicy but dark floral lifted nose. At first, alc shows but needed time to settle down and does exhibit typical bordeaux charaacteristics though a modern styled one. Good fine silky tannins. Cool fresh dark fruits with pretty nicely integrated oak. Lots of earth, truffles and herbs lingers. 75% cocoa dark chocolate finish.

Flight 2 - Geylang Wine Shop (1 Note)

  • 2005 Alain Jaume Lirac Clos de Sixte 84 Points

    France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Lirac

Perfumed dark liliac petals, spicy with nutmeg and dried herbs. Dark cherries almost sappy . V intense fruti but all nicely kept in a firm structured package. Finishes almost peppery and brambly.

Flight 3 - La Petite Cuisine (1 Note)

  • 2000 Louis Jadot Chambolle-Musigny 83 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny

Some sweet dried but spicy flowers but mostly earthy funky barn notes. Kinda alc . Almost balanced. Fresh acid, quite intense fruits with a rusty edge. Stewed strawberries and cherries with sweet dates showing. I would have guessed more vosne or gevrey-chambertin than chambolle.
