No hints of premox, although ever so slightly more advanced than its age would suggest. Rich fruit, a hint of spice, and orange peel highlight the deep, long, deftly balanced, mineral-laced palate. A tad riper, more round, and less cuttingly Puligny than I was expecting given the producer and vintage.

Popped and poured. Started slow out of the gate, but steadily grew in intensity and expansiveness over a few hours. The color is a fine, pale brick red. Beautifully perfumed, floral nose. Gloriously silky, lightly spicy red fruit. Enchantingly cool, moderately ripe fruit. Layers of earth and tobacco. Very fine tannins on the finish. Although delicious now if given enough aeration, these should really sleep for several more years.

Interesting note of brown sugar/spice/toast on the nose. Very tightly wound, showing ripe dark fruit, finely balanced acidity, a bit of new oak, meat juice, and smoke. Ultra-fine, ripe, grippy tannins. With extended aeration, turned silkier and more perfumed, without losing any intensity. This has fine structure and length and should be fantastic in a few more years as the oak further integrates.

Rich, deep, meaty, enticing nose. The palate is assertive, intense, and redolent with pure dark fruit, meat juice, beets, and smoky earth. With aeration, this lost some of its initial brawniness and showed its tender, elegant side. Beautifully balanced; stunningly powerful and long. Just fantastic stuff. I'm going to hold my remaining bottle for at least 10 more years.

Utterly, hauntingly perfect. Endless layers of spice and nuanced dark fruit. Textural nirvana. Ethereally beautiful and expansive. A panoply of flavors dance across the palate, building to an endless finish. Astonishing and emotionally thrilling. As close to a religious experience as wine can get.

A magnificent wine. Unbelievably complex, intense nose. The palate is silky and beautiful, with wave after wave of dark fruit, earth, and smoke wrapped in suave, silky tannin. Beautiful balance, structure, and poise. Not as much raw power or brawniness as this wine can sometimes show in its youth. This has a real sense of finesse from the initial nose all the way through to the endless finish.
