Introduction
For one week, cumulating at the Trois Glorieuses, we committed ourselves to uncovering vinous and epicurean pleasures in the villages of Burgundy.
All 2009s were tasted before malo. Most 2008s were tasted out of barrels, malo completed.
Flight 1 - Domaine Claude Dugat (where papi sang in the cellar) (10 Notes)
Classic wines with pure bright fruit. Elegant and balanced.
Flight 2 - Domaine Gilles Duroché (6 Notes)
Classic well made wines, perhaps lacking a touch of flair.
Flight 3 - Lunch at Chez Guy (2 Notes)
Jambon persille
12 hour beef cheeks
Crème brulee in chocolate sauce
Flight 4 - Domaine George Lignier (5 Notes)
Flight 5 - Domaine Alain Jeanniard
A passionate and entrepreneurial winemaker and very pleasant wines with rich pure fruit. No notes here as the day took its toll. Rounding off the tasting was an absolutely yummy ratafia that Jeanniard makes for his family.
2007 Claude Dugat Gevrey-Chambertin

Nose of barnyard and plums. Minerals, cherries and plums on the medium bodied palate. Medium tannins and acidity. Pleasant finish with medium length.

2007 Claude Dugat Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaux St. Jacques

Aromatic cherried nose. Chewy tannins, high acidity and sour cherries on the palate which is a touch unripe. Green finish with medium length.

Concentrated cherried nose. Concentrated and chewy palate of cherries, roast and minerals. Good balance of medium acidity and viscosity. Medium length. Very pleasant.

Aromatic nose of cherries, roast and flowers. Elegant palate of sour cherries and a touch of minerals. Gritty tannins and medium acidity. Finish of sour cherry juice with medium to long persistence.

Perfumed nose of flowers, then cherries. Pure cherry juice and minerals on the very elegant palate. Beautifully balanced. Graceful finish and very long.

Perfumed nose of all flowers, then cherries. Lovely palate of layers of cherries and minerals. Deep elegant finish, and very long. Very pure.

Perfumed nose of flowers, cherries and raspberries. Well integrated palate of roast, cherries and minerals. Very elegant and very long.

Intensely perfumed nose of cherries and flowers. Rich ripe palate of pure cherry juice. Elegantly balanced with sandy tannins and medium acidity. Delicious finish and very persistent.
