Flight 1 - Whites: (3 Notes)

  • 2005 Alain Voge Saint-Péray Fleur de Crussol 90 Points

    France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Saint-Péray

    Tasted blind - Medium yellow with a very slight brownish hue. Bright and fresh nose of lemon, menthol with some tropical fruit hints. Full bodied with a good finish. Coats the palate, slightly oily mouthfeel. Medium acid. Drink or hold. Excellent.

  • 2004 Didier Dagueneau Pur Sang 91 Points

    France, Loire Valley, Upper Loire, Pouilly-Fumé

    Tasted blind - Light to medium yellow, younger looking than the Voge. Pronounced diesel on the nose with citrus and some yeasty notes. Very sour on the palate with a ton of citrus. Needs some food. Light and fresh in the mouth with a ton of acid. After about 30min in the glass it really started to show minerality and herbaceous notes. I like this a lot. Excellent.

  • 1990 Jean Bourdy Savagnin Côtes du Jura 90 Points

    France, Jura, Côtes du Jura

    Tasted blind - Darker yellow with a strong brown/amber hue. Roasted honey, dried apricot and some spicy notes. Good amount of acid left. Lots going on here and very interesting. Drink now. Excellent.

Flight 2 - Reds: (6 Notes)

  • 1982 Jean Bourdy Côtes du Jura Rouge

    France, Jura, Côtes du Jura

    Tasted blind - Lighter medium ruby/amber/brown. Sweeter nose with leathery and tobacco. Not much fruit left but what is there is very roasted/stewed red fruits. Some toffee hints on the finish. Lighter in body with a decent amount of acid left, resolved tannins. As Jenise said, this is more interesting than delicious. A nice experience to taste these two rare Bourdy wines side by side.

  • 1982 Paul Jaboulet Aîné Hermitage La Chapelle 94 Points

    France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Hermitage

    Tasted blind - Medium ruby with brownish hue throughout. Wow, this has a great nose. Some funk and sweetness with red fruits, tobacco, smoke and dried papaya. Silky and soft on the palate. Resolved tannins. This was much better than the ’82 we had a few weeks ago. This is drinking very well right now. Outstanding.

  • 1982 Château La Lagune 93 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Haut-Médoc

    Tasted blind - Medium ruby with brownish hue throughout. Bordeaux like nose with hints of barnyard, some cedar and stewed red fruits. Sweet and funky. Leather notes on the finish. Medium body with soft powdery tannins. Some structure left. Drinking well now. Outstanding.

  • 1998 Le Macchiole Paleo Rosso 92 Points

    Italy, Tuscany, Bolgheri, Bolgheri Superiore

    Tasted blind - darkest wine yet. Slight funky hints on the nose with a ton of black fruits and some mocha notes as well. Similar on the palate. Ripe fruits. Lots of structure and acid. While this is tasty now, this has a ways to go to. Hold. Excellent. 92+

  • 1997 Villa Poggio Salvi Brunello di Montalcino 91 Points

    Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino

    Tasted blind - Deep ruby in colour. Pronounced notes of vitamins on the nose with dark fruits and smoke. Nice flavours with hints of nicely integrated wood and more dark fruits. Still a lot of tannin and acid in this wine. Hints of leather/tobacco on the lengthy finish. Needs time. Excellent. 91+

Flight 3 - Dessert: (1 Note)

  • 1986 Graham Porto Vintage Malvedos 91 Points

    Portugal, Douro, Porto

    Tasted blind - Deep ruby/purple in colour. Thick and sweet on the nose and palate. Dark fruits. Big, young and full bodied. I couldn't believe this was 23 years old when it was revealed. It needs another 23 years. Hold. Excellent. 91+
