    Oatmeal, yeasty with smells of cheap eu de toillette. A confusing altering between ripe sweetness to mineral dryness. Very volatile and unsettled. Neither unpleasant nore enticing, this is strange.

    Buttery oak, napaish b utterscotch, and nice expensive english toffees. Undoubtedly new world in a big but beautifully delicious way. There is even hints of dry minerality and wet stones . Long finish.

  • 2006 Lapostolle Merlot Cuvée Alexandre Apalta Vineyard 80 Points

    Very expressive green peppers, spiced plums , inkish and somewhat overextracted. Smells of chinese medicine as well. Very full bodied merlot. Big and juicy with dense dark choc undertones. Definitely a crowd pleaser but really an off the mill souless bottle.

    Seductive sweet nose of brambly spicy sweet little dark red berries and crushed blackberries, sweet coffee and burnt toast. Soft sour cherries covered by chocolatey oak though. Nice nose but palate couldnt quite match up.

    Lots of smoke, hints of tar and spice. Very smoky, like black smoke. Quite sourish black fruits and bitter tannins. Not at all a big wine and actually quite austere. Not very fond of the style.

    Nicely integrated wine. A little of everything - spices, berries, touch of mint. Lifted nose with cool cedar oak. Controlled black cherries with some tobacco and cloves. Needs more time but definitely with potential.

    Nose is kinda weird. Old hospital, dry wood and dry leaves. Sterile smelling and also herbal. Elegant red fruits. Supple and enchanting. Somewhat stewed, a touch of medicinal herbs. Feminine wine. Not mind blowing but understandably understated in its own right. Soft inviting tannins, unintrusive and unassuming.

    Nice fresh florals perfuming the senses. Alc lifted fruit in a nice way. Cool styled wine. This has the coolness factor to it. Imagine shades , leaning against a cool black mustang and whipping out a cigarette.

    Touch of banana peel, cotton candy, ripe yelllow grapefruits and a streak of herbaceousness and baygon. Similar to the Newton with a delicate controlled expression of freshness and minerality and controlled oak. Nifty wine.

    Bunches of tropicana bananas and really tons of them . Quite a controlled expression of napa chard with delicately deliciously biscuity undertones with bitter lemon / grapefruit acidity.

    Pretty flowers atop stewed cherries / strawberries with a touch of dry wood. Quite restrained ripe sweet strawberry fruits that is pulled back by a gevry like undergrowth notes. Nicely balanced wine. Really quite delicious.

    I only smelt the dry oak trees. Very dry and austere , in fact, being a new world where are the voluptuous fruits?! There is structure but a pity this is trying to hard to be what it is not.

    Opulent , ripe with bbqed peppers, ripe fermented plums and lot of menthol notes. Quite big but balanced new world fruit. Quite weigthy mid palate with lingering finnish. Ppwdery tannins.

    Violet infused perfumed little red fruits. Almost spicy and smelling similar to a dainty sweet stewed pinot from napa. Touch of leafiness, very nice smooth mouthfeel. This is just lovely with velvety soft fruits. I feel very comfortable with this wine. Cooling oak.

    A bit of preserved vegetqables, nice exotic spiced plums and cool cedar oak. A pity the finish is a bit short but this has good supple fruits with some smokiness.

    Hazeline snow cream! with a touch of soy sauce. Still a bit tight. Quite classically bordeaux but in a warmer vintage. Lovely balance, nicely integrated oak. Now this is at least almost worth its weight in price. This tastes like a really well made modernistic bordeaux. Bright but mellowing warmth of black and blue fruits. French oak. Quite classy.
