Deep golden yellow color. Lime and pineapple fruit on the expressive nose. Tastes of melon, lemon, lychee nut and pear. Incredible mid palate complexity with a depth that draws you in. Full bodied. Excellent balance. Long powerful finish that lasts for over a minute. Simply outstanding and on fire tonight. My personal WOTN.

  • 2005 Domaine Leflaive Bâtard-Montrachet 92 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru

Straw yellow color. Melon fruit and vanilla oak on the nose. Tastes of apple and lemon fruit. The oak unfortunately is over powering tonight which wasn't the case last time I had this wine making me think it's going through an awkward stage in its evolution. Very well balanced. Nice elegance on the finish. This wine will be something special with time. Hold.

  • 2006 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Richebourg 90 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Richebourg Grand Cru

Cloudy light ruby color. Beautiful cherry nose with some nice earthiness. Tastes of black cherry, violet, spice and raspberry. Very good balance. Chewy tannins. Earthy finish that seems a bit closed and primary at this point in the wines evolution. Needs time. Unfortunately I think this wine is suffering a bit being in the company of some very impressive and massive Northern Rhone wines.

Dark ruby color. Black cherry nose. Tastes of blackberry, raspberry and cherry fruit with some soy sauce and earthiness. Well balanced. Firm chewy tannins. Rich power finish with very good depth and complexity. I've had this wine 4 times and it's consistently rated by me in the mid nineties and always a great pleasure to drink.
