Second time tasted. Deep copper color. Started out surprisingly tight, and gradually unfolded over a couple of hours. Crisp, energetic, and long. Still youthful and citrus-driven in personality, but with some lively nutty/doughy secondary flavors on display. Gorgeous ripe fruit and palpable minerality build to a long finish.
Third time tasted. Medium copper color. This bottle was really grumpy all evening and never came around. Consensus was that this was not corked, but just totally closed down. Some promising flavors, but a gaping hole on the midpalate and finish. Note to self: hold off on opening for at least 5 years (ideally 10+).
A beautiful showing. Chiseled and sleek, with moderately ripe, lively fruit that is deftly framed by minerals and acidity. Balanced, elegant and long. No greenies or premox. Lafon's Clos de la Barre is my favorite village white Burg in almost every vintage -- no exception here.

Large-scaled and ripe, with plenty of tropical fruit and toasty new oak. Long, slightly sweet, and powerful on the palate. Picks up some complexity and minerality on the finish. No hint of premox.

A complex, expansive nose of dark licorice/anise, earth, and meat juice. On the palate, this shows rich, ripe flavors that build to a long finish. Well-displayed secondary and tertiary flavors -- licorice, iron, and earth -- complement the still-lively core of dark cherry fruit. Nicely resolved tannins. Drinking well now.

A terrific showing. Killer, classic perfumed Musigny nose of meat and ripe dark cherries. The palate is complex, well-structured, spicy, lively and long, with a personality that is elegant yet also powerful. The tannins are fine and suave. A great Moose that should prove very long-lived. My WOTN.

Very dark color. Lots of plump, ripe dark fruit. Decent, but very New World in style, and no DRC character. A sound bottle; I just opened this way too soon. Hold for at least 5 years. Judgment reserved.

Floral, supremely complex nose. The palate is moderately ripe, showing complex red fruit flavors, vitamin, tangy acidity, and a melange of spices. The finish is long and sleek. This is still tightly wound, but already quite elegant. Terrific.

Brief notes: from a negotiant that I had never heard of, this wine was a really pleasant surprise. Complex red fruit and spices. Medium body, nice balance, long finish, suave texture. For all the teasing that Dave had to endure for bringing this, it was actually quite good.
