Interesting. Lemon lime flavors. A little bit of richness here. Good, but doesn't raise to the levels it needs to for the price being charged. Why are Arneis' always so expensive?
3/12/10: Ripe, melon and waxy flavors. Sensation of sweetness followed by a long lingering finish. Tropical even. Delicious. 91
1/15/10: Very tasty stuff. Melon and soft fruits. Finishes bright. Gains a little intensity with air. Really defined, and a lot of depth to this bottle. 90
South Africa, Cape South Coast, Walker Bay, Hemel-en-Aarde Valley
Have always wanted to try this wine, but this was the first time. This had a lot more Pinotage characters then Pinot Noir. Quite large, with not a lot of finesse here. Smokey, rubbery nose. Very funky. I found it interesting but ultimately not that enjoyable, especially for over $30.
France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
I've always been a fan of Delas CDR, but I found little in this bottle that made it more appealing then the regular bottling. This didn't show well upon opening and over a few hours. There does seem to be a tightly wound core of minerals and fruit that did not express themselves, but that never came out, and there was also an issue of some heat showing on this wine. I'm unable to recommend this compared to other offerings out there, but the critics disagree, so who knows?
4/16/10: Amazing aromatics. Ceder. Cigar. Olives. Restrained and showing quite a bit of tannins right now. High acid as well. Still needs time to round out, but already an incredible wine. Beautiful earthy finish. One of the better offerings from South Africa available. 91+
1/15/10: Spicy, a little ripe, but has a lot going on and a nice core. Some S.A. funk as well. This is a very well made wine. 90+

Heavier style of course from the the Noir, this has some richness. Usually I prefer this, but this didn't seem as focused as the Blanc de Blancs.

Solid cherry nose. Way too much cheap vanilla flavors on the palate, that ruins this wine for me. 83-85

This is pretty boring, without a whole lot going on, but if you can get it for less than $10, I guess I wouldn't complain. 83-84

5/7/10: Smooth, rich, full mouth feel and no tannins. Fruit bomb, without being over the top. I don't really like this as much as I once did. 87
1/15/10: Delicious little fruit bomb. Some spice and raspberry and blackberry fruit. A little meatiness here. Really delicious stuff. Yummy. 88
