Dark and saturated. Smells like blackberry syrup. Very nice, moderate weight black fruit, licorice, spice, and a vein of minerality. This must have a good dollop of Syrah in the cepage. No heat. Very good and a bargain.

Deep center, lighter edge. Wintergreen and a bit of funk on the nose. Medium to light weight. Full of garrigue and red fruit. Savory, not particularly ripe in style. Peppery finish. Good.

Medium ruby with tawny rim. Gamy nose, thyme. Lush entry, medium frame. A little raisiny. Fades and loses focus on mid-palate-not that authoritative and lacks flavor intensity. No obvious flaws, just not that good and the balance leaves much to be desired.
Deep purple. Black fruit on the nose and this carries through to the palate, with a simple, ripe, hot blackberry liqueur profile and some black licorice. Big wine, lots of tannins currently concealed. Little complexity but this is juicy for the price.

Fairly light color with paler edge. Forward and fragrant, redolent of raspberries. After the pile driver Cotes du Rhone which came before it, the elegant weightless feeling of this wine was a shock and a relief. Lovely fruit, excellent acidity, little tannin showing today (quite different in this respect than a bottle in France 2 months ago). Spice and anise complement the finish. Lively, delicious, and already complex. I love this style!

Medium red, lighter rim. Pungent aromatics with some brett, grilled meat, and some secondary aromas. A completely different animal (and more animal) than the Charvin-bigger, deeper, darker fruit and significnant tannins which need time to soften. The finish is both shortened and hardened by the element of funk.
