2008 Mas de Daumas Gassac Blanc 90 Points
France, Languedoc Roussillon, Languedoc, Pays d'Hérault
Clear and bright and pale gold in colour. creamy nose with a rich sweetness on the nose. White pepper with apricots and perhaps some pineapple. It was also mentioned that the "fruit salad" like notes were characteristic of the Petit Manseng in the blend. good acidity with a fresh almost sappy palate. Fruit and spice following through.

1998 Mas de Daumas Gassac 85 Points

Intense and dark. Big fruit led nose with classic Cab notes of cassis with ripe raspberry for me too. Some vanilla sweetness with hints of clove and woodiness. Big rich mouth feel with dominant tannins, almost stewed fruits on the palate. Long and bone dry - still has not reached it's peak.

1997 Mas de Daumas Gassac 88 Points

Slightly less intense in colour than the 1998. Thinning at the edge with a little colour change. A distinct vegetal note on the nose with less fruit and a slight dustiness. Deep cassis still rises through this. Perhaps a little mushroom note too. Softer tannins than the 1998 giving a smooth touch of velvet feel. Fruit waining but relaced with more savoury notes of blood/meat. At its peak now.

1996 Mas de Daumas Gassac 93 Points

Dark and Intense with only a touch of age showing at the edge. Classy aged Cab nose with cassis - a little punchier than the 97. A touch of toastiness too. Smooth and lush on the palate with a great balance. Firm tannins providing a great platform for the fruit and great length.

1994 Mas de Daumas Gassac 90 Points

Intensity lower than the younger vintages but still retaining good colour and little signs of age at the rim. Stewed fruits and quite punchy on the nose with leathery notes underneath. Very smooth and a little spiciness. A truly savoury experience with tannins only showing towards the end of the palate. Long.

1993 Mas de Daumas Gassac 80 Points

Older looking with a distinct colour change. Garigue nose with little fruit and a touch dusty. Smooth on the palate but little of interest left. What was there was good but quite short. This vintage had significant bottle variance with distinctly different characteristic being noted by those with the other bottle.

1991 Mas de Daumas Gassac 95 Points

Very dark and intense, a little thinning at the edge but little colour change for a decade! Well developed pong of animal and vegetal notes. A whiff of cassis rising through this. Very smooth, long and in great balance. Good structure, still great fruit and very long.

1986 Mas de Daumas Gassac 87 Points

Dark and intense with signs of age at the rim. A touch of furniture polish on the nose. Still some cassis notes with a touch of vegetal. Soft, subtle and mellow. Medium length but whist there, good balance and delicious. Starting to wane.
