I've noticed that the forum has been really slow of late. Can't open the Active Users thread at the last unread post without getting a time out, I have to go click on the last page number and visually hunt from there. Basically, any thread over 100 pages is likely to time out. Is it just me?

Not just you. It has been doing it me in various threads since the weekend. It has come and gone time and time again over the years I've been here. Runs great for the longest and then out of the clear blue I start getting timeouts like there is no tomorrow.

If you click on the last page, it opens quickly. Try clicking on the little box for open at first unread post. Takes FOREVER (times out after about 30 seconds or so).

Sorry, but I'm not able to share your pain! If by little box for the first unread post, I think that's the one on the far right of the main Thread page, but when I click that it takes me right to the last post. It"s odd I don't get timed out as my machine is an old-school PC box running XP that's 5+ years old. I've added RAM a few years ago 'cause it was slowing down, but even with that, with a few browsers and app's open, I'm not left w/many free threads so my machine can be a slow loader. I'll have to pay more attention to see if I it launches slowly in the future.

Thanks, never knew that option was there.

It is very fast for me, no issues. Windows 7 lap top on T1 line.

Thanks! That did the trick. Now the go to new post button on large threads is working again and it seems super speedy too.

I just hit active user and it loaded so fast I almost fell off my chair. I usually have time for a good nap!

The box on the right is the last post in the thread, unread or not. I'm talking about the box on the far left, before the thread title. That takes you to the oldest post you haven't read yet and is very different than the one on the right if there is more than one post you haven't read. BTW, if you've read all the posts in the thread, the box on the left is gone, but the one on the right stays there.

BobMilton, thanks for the education on the buttons! I just clicked that left one on Active Users and the next page took about 1 second to appear. I hadn't tried that before, so I have no comparison. Maybe Eric's work solved this problem for you like it appears to have done for others?

No problem. I'd never noticed the little square on the far right, so I learned something too. And yes, Eric re-indexing the site did seem to fix it.

Anybody else experiencing it again this morning? All of a sudden all of the big threads like Active Users are timing out on me.

No, displaying immediately for me. Just checked active users and it was up in a second or two.

This is what I'm having a problem with. I can click the last post button and it is instant. First unread times outs.

I've noticed it getting slower the last couple of days. So not surprised at the timeouts.

Just out of curiosity are you using full blown Safari or Tapatalk?

Timing out on me as well, through Safari.

And I'm on Google Fiber, so my pipe is bigger than yours.

I thought is was our slow DSL. Usually the iPad works much better than my PC which sucks most of the time.
