OK, this was another busy night.

Now we have our first automated barcode support. When the site comes up now the focus should be in the search edit control on the left. Scanning a 6-digit custom barcode generated from my site (or entering it manually, leading zeros and all, and pressing return) will now bring you to a page that offers to remove the bottle from inventory and lets you enter a tasting note. Alternatively if you scan a bottle that has been removed from Inventory recently (since I added transaction logging 10 days ago) it will know this but still offer to bring you to the wine page or let you enter a tasting note. All in all this doesn’t add a lot of new functionality to the site and really just saves a few clicks for a savvy user. However, it is cool, automated, and it will be very easy for less technical folks (read: significant others) to take bottles out of the cellar and have the right thing happen.

While I was at it I also cleaned up the navigation by collapsing the three external site search controls into one with radio buttons.
