In case you missed the protracted Craggy Range cooperative buy, Farr are still offering this great (according to Toby/Paul) wine.

I have to say both wines listed on that page are excellent - serious wines that need quite a few years of cellartime. The Sophia will be truly excellent in about 10 years me thinks.

The Le Sol is still a bit of a brute at the moment - it is shutting down a touch but give it 5 years and it will be booming out of the glass and kicking your face off. Not a gentle wine.

I'm booked for Hotel du Vin, Birmingham for nights of July 2nd and 3rd.
They have a special for the 2nd that includes dinner.

I is just about 2 years to the day since a bunch of alcoholic strangers first met up at the Hide bar to start the monster that was to become "CT London"...

Oh dear. We were all so fresh faced and eager. That was a monumental day of such massive proportions that I can still feel the hangover from here.

I have to say, in all sincerity (which is a change for me), what a great bunch of people - I have really really enjoyed the new friendships I have made over the last 2 years.

With the exception of Toby. Toby is Satan.

Man, a lot happens in 2 years!

Paul and I were discussing over that 'lunch' how many we have had, for some reason they all seem to blur into one... Need another one soon though. Since Jessica I have not really been back to the Hide for most of this year, which is somewhat surprising..

I think the Tobster and Jaines axis of evil will have to do some prep work before we can have another session at The Hide as we have not been back for so long. So, Toby - another "meeting" next week? I'm sure we can get much closer to £1k if we really tried.

Well, there was talk of a quick meet-up! I'm guessing that Tuesday is off.. but later in the week may be an idea ;-)

Really should get a night out down there soon as a warm up ;-) other than when our illustrious leader was here in January we have not been back...

Just remember I'm back for July and August!!!
Does the Hide take block bookings?
I vaguely remember Khamen threatening another big one?
CT London 4 or 5 or 6 or 7.
Hey it's sounding more like MS all the time.
Is Eric doctoring the wine?

If we're up for another tasting at the hide then we better get there and spend some dosh, I did try last week but that didn't work very well, I'll just have to slum it this week in San francisco... Did I tell you I'm off to the French laundry tomorrow ?

Special Event
For the weekend of July 2nd, CT London HQ will move from The Hide Bermondsey to The Hotel du Vin Birmingham, to prepare for a very special event at Birmingham Cathedral on the 3rd.
We will even do our best to remember the 4th July - over a Full Monty, English breakfast no doubt.

ob2s,
The Tobster is our official photographer, but I'll snap a few of course.

And while it will be a new life, a rebirth even, I'm not sure "crowning" is the appropriate image?
http://www.americanpregnancy.org/labornbirth/crowning.html

When do we get the honor of a return visit?
The weather is perect now for punting and Birmingham has more miles of canals than Venice and more trees than Paris (and that includes the Bois de Bologne).

Boy I'd love to witnessing the crowning....but I already had my yearly thing that I get to choose to do. I found a photo of a Brummie canal bridge that shows how different the canals are in Venice. I doubt they mow the pavement in Venezia.

I won't be back to HdV until about midnight on Saturday. If you are still awake I'll see you then, if not at breakfast.

It would be tempting to stay up and see you make extinct another fine vintage Champagne (I missed the one in Cambridge).
Suspect it will be over the Full Monty breakfast though.

Laithwaites have a £60 Off a case of wine deal -
laithwaites.co.uk/dhj1a

It's a way to hook you into buying a case every two or three months, but as long as you turn down future cases it's a deep discount on soome middling wines.

Was it only 2 years ago? I thought it was longer and I think that was CT London 2 having skyped in for one (from my old apartment and we've been in the new one 2 years.....)

I will see if I can dig it out from my old laptop. Paul S had a very thorough tasting event as well.

Jeez was it only 2 years ago

Holy Smoke indeed...

having met one or two of you the other week, you seemed such genteel folk - I'm blinking in disbelief at such flagrant debauchery!

Nice to see a positive note on Grange 94, although coming towards the end of such a list, can it be taken seriously?? ;-)

The biggest regret that I had that night was that I was so smashed I cannot really remember the Grange. I remember it was brilliant in my drunken state, but my early walk of shame back home (helped by my wife) didn't really add to the overall experience. Apparently the Montrose wasn;t bad either.
