In Australia, I'm guessing Boxing Day is pretty big - in the middle of summer, a public holiday with Xmas leftovers to graze, and the first day of the Melbourne cricket test match (a five day match played once a year against various visiting countries, starting at 11am Eastern) and the Sydney to Hobart yacht race (starting at 1pm eastern, but you need to have a couple of beers under you belt to make sense of the yachts going in all different directions at the start line). Totally meaningless sporting events on a national holiday - what better reason do you need to crack open a tinnie.
