Would you say Superbowl is the day of the year more beer is consumed over any other day of the entire year in the USA or can you think of another date that could rival this one ? I am taking beer, no wine or spirits.

I bet 4th of July beats Superbowl Sunday in quantity of beer consumed.

According to the National Beer Wholesalers Association (NBWA), it's the 4th of July, at least as measured by sales. They have a graphic that compares the holidays. I'd post it here, but it opens up as big as a billboard, so I'll post the link to the page.

Edit: Note that that figure is for "off-premise" consumption. The highest rate for on-premise consumption is St. Patrick's Day.

The night before Thanksgiving is a big bar night too.

In Australia, I'm guessing Boxing Day is pretty big - in the middle of summer, a public holiday with Xmas leftovers to graze, and the first day of the Melbourne cricket test match (a five day match played once a year against various visiting countries, starting at 11am Eastern) and the Sydney to Hobart yacht race (starting at 1pm eastern, but you need to have a couple of beers under you belt to make sense of the yachts going in all different directions at the start line).

Totally meaningless sporting events on a national holiday - what better reason do you need to crack open a tinnie.
