I cannot seem to keep my hands of my 2010 Brunello's - so tasty, so elegant, so good with a variety of foods.

The latest was a Tenute Silvio Nardi that I finished tonight - $40 and delicious from start to finish.

Have only had 3 2010's so far - all from my cellar - anybody else a fan as well?

(I admit, have seen no need to buy any Riserva's from 2010).

Amazing wines! I'm lucky I have no access to my cellar this year, because of travel, or I would have drunk all my bottles. But I plan to visit Montalcino ten days from now, and this was an area I was mostly ignoring prior to around 2006. 2010 is what convinced me. Looking forward to trying some other vintages.

The Cerbaiona (Molinari) is my favorite so far. Cerbaiola (Salvoni) is great too, though, and what I love about both is that they have a core of minerality that lifts and defines the wine, and puts the inner structure into a kind of precise focus. Wonderful wines.

A bunch of '09s but no '10s. Will have to be on the lookout. Thanks for the recommendation.

Ken, in Montalcino there is a wonderful wine store, Il Barlanzone, located at Via Ricasoli, 33 (opposite the historic fortress square) that I've used a number of times. Worth a stop. Buona travek!

Are the 2010s drinking well this early? We don't drink Italian wine that often, so we're just finishing up our 2000s and 2001s now. We've sampled a 2004 and a 2007 this year and while the '04 was nice the '07 still needed time so we haven't bothered to even sniff a 2010.

EDIT: I'm speaking of Italian wine in general.

I am just waiting for my (2004 Poggio Il Castellare Brunello di Montalcino) to arrive. Looks like folks really like these wines. It'll be my first. Have not been focusing on Italy wines other than Antinori for Pizza which is excellent.

The 10s are drinking well early but seem to have the right stuff to improve. I don't have many but will try to hold them another 5-8 years.

Have a small assortment from 2010 that I'm sitting on. Was thinking of trying some of the lower end ones in the next year or two.

Perhaps the Tenuta di Sesta, Canalicchio, OR maybe I'll stay away and try my 2 bottles of 2011.

1x 2010 Altesino Brunello di Montalcino Montosoli
2x 2010 Canalicchio Brunello di Montalcino
1x 2010 Canalicchio di Sopra Brunello di Montalcino Riserva
1x 2010 Tenuta di Sesta Brunello di Montalcino
1x 2010 Il Marroneto Brunello di Montalcino
1x 2010 MastroJanni Brunello di Montalcino
1x 2010 Fattoria Poggio di Sotto Brunello di Montalcino

I have 3 bottles of 2010 Campogiovanni (San Felice) Brunello di Montalcino. I'm fairly new to Brunello and wanted to spread out the consumption of these bottles over the next 5-10 years. Anyone have any experience with this wine? Sounds like they are drinking well now based on Cellar tracker posts.

My first experience with Brunello was 2002 Canalicchio Brunello di Montalcino half bottle that was a "splurge" at a restaurant when my wife and I were dating about ten years ago. We really enjoyed the wine but I never actively pursued purchasing Brunello because we went down the Napa/Sonoma/Santa Barbara road. Now I'm starting to branch out and Brunello is something I want to learn/drink more of.

I am currently, thanks to this thread, drinking a 2010 Castelgiocondo. Fabulous... but imagine in 5-10 years... wait.

Exactly. Fabulous now, will be - what? fantasmagoric? - in the future. Equals, for me - buy more.

KBP, enjoy your trip! Sounds wonderful.

If the 2010 Castelgiocondo is anything like the 2001, I'd buy 2 cases and enjoy them for the next 20 years.

I have about 75 bottles of 2010 BdM in my cellar, and have tasted about 5-7 different producers.

Every one, without fail, has been very enjoyable. This vintage has allowed the great shops to produce exceptional wines, and even the traditionally average ones to punch well above their weight class.

The vintage seems to possess that rare ability to show well at a young age, but with the potential to age very nicely for many years to come.

Highlights from my (limited) experiences thus far are the Pertimali Livio Sassetti, Fuligni, Uccelierra, and the Conti Costanti.

Brunello's to me possess a great QPR relative to my normal drinking/ purchases of Napa Cabs.

I’ve been remiss about chiming in on this thread which recognizes to of my favorite wine subjects: BdM and the wonderful 2010 vintage.

As the year en approacheth and I’m preparing to do an inventory, I’ve located these producers in my cellar:

2010 Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Santa Caterina D'Oro Vigna di Pianrosso
2010 Tenuta di Collosorbo Brunello di Montalcino Riserva
2010 Donatella Cinelli Colombini Brunello di Montalcino Prime Donne
2010 E. Fuligni (Cottimelli) Brunello di Montalcino
2010 Il Poggione (Proprietá Franceschi) Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Vigna Paganelli
2010 Pertimali (Livio Sassetti) Brunello di Montalcino
2010 Pertimali (Livio Sassetti) Brunello di Montalcino Riserva
2010 Pinto Brunello di Montalcino
2010 Azienda Agricola Le Ragnaie Brunello di Montalcino

There is plenty here to make me appreciate my great good fortune yet I’m motivated to find more!

Notably, the Azienda Agricola was a CT SS gift from Atlantean. If I wasn’t such a hoarder, I’d have tried this singleton already. Maybe I’ll make the leap this Holiday season.

Admittedly, my palate responds to the ripeness of the vintage but the rustic herbalness (word?), structure and (yes) acidity seem to be there.

Generally I’m looking for intermediate to long-term cellaring and am keeping my eyes peeled for these...

The only 2010 BdM I have is Valdicava and I had not even thought about popping one yet. Now, I am thinking maybe I should try one, you know, for research purposes only. :)

I second your motion to try one in the name of science.

(selfish motivation: I have several also)

Drank a wonderful San Filippo a couple weeks ago. After a day open it was gorgeous and still a lot of fuel in the tank, so no need to hurry.

Monica Larner of the Wine Advocate posted notes from a vertical of Il Poggione in the last issue - the 2010 BdM's (regular and Riserva) were the top wines. Her notes on the 2010 regular cuvee made me want to go find it!

2010s are too hard for me still, but if one has (non-pejoratively) more of a Parker palate then I'll bet those 2010s are drinking great!

Had a 2010 Argiano recently and it was very good. Have only tried a couple bottles. Still a bit early for these. Tried a 2010 Ucelliera which was stupid to open so early.
