Well, as Ken mentioned a few weeks ago Ketan Mody has opened his Beta wines for purchase today in their inaugural release. The only wines available are the Montecillo Cabs from 2011 and 2012, and by 3 pack only (one allocated, another pack possible via wish list).

I wanted to buy one bottle from each vintage, so unless there's a member or two who wants to go in with me, I'm out. I'm not buying into yet another mailing list without trying the product first.

Indeed a puzzle. I went for 3 of each and will PM you. I had actually been thinking that 2 of each would make more sense: 1 to try, 1 to hold for a few years (these are supposed to be old school wines that will age well... need to put that to the test). So perhaps we can team up and resolve the matter of my extra bottle of each.

I bought into the hype I have seen here and elsewhere. All in.
More than I would have purchased if not forced to buy 3, but, well... We shall see!
Really looking forward to trying it.

I went in for a 3-pack of each. Looking forward to some old school style CA cabs for a change...

Is the winery going to hold the bottles to ship as weather permits?

Doesn't look that way. They show ship dates as going out around May 28th via 2 day FedEx including ice packs in the container. Probably why shipping is so costly.

*The email does say "We are happy to arrange alternate delivery dates to ensure safe arrival to you."

Short of an east coast heat wave, I'm not going to be stressed about that as a plan. But I asked to have it shipped to the FedEx/Kinko's center here and then I'll pick the wine up same day after work. Avoids it sitting in a hot truck somewhere. I do this a lot and while I don't let them ship during 95 degree weather, the 2nd day FedEx is quite reliable and I've never seen even slight signs of heat damage. UPS is just as good.

The trick is to divert it directly into their hold for pickup office, in either case. The wine stays in cool places the whole way, and never gets hot even briefly.

Totally with you on that. I have a FedEx store a mile away, and the UPS location is only a few miles north of me.
