It has a 200 bottle capacity and they are asking $900 for it? Any thoughts on whether the asking price is close to what it's worth?

That seems like a pretty reasonable price if everything is sealed up tight and it’s coolinh system works solidly.

You could offer them a $100 less but be prepared to get outbid and end up with a CostCo it Sam’s Vinotemp and buy the warranty on them as we have plenty of nightmare stories of many other brands that just don’t last.

Thanks for the reply. Went and took a look at the unit and according to the S/N sticker, it was actually produced in 7/2006 so is actually about 11.5 yrs. old. Also, he didn't have it plugged in so I couldn't verify whether or not it is holding temp (he plugged it in while I was there and said I could come back tomorrow to check the temp). The unit itself is in fairly good condition - there are 4 sliding shelves and 3 fixed. They currently have liquor bottles stored in it and one bottle of some sort of liquer had fallen at some point and stained the wood shelves some. Otherwise everything is in adequate condition. Given this new information, and if I verify the temp and seals are good, what would a reasonable offer be?

$1. You don't want to overbid.

The question really is how much do you want it? Is it something you absolutely must have, or you could easily live without it if your offer wasn't accepted and somebody else bought it?

My thinking goes like this. Being that it is 11.5 years old instead of the 7 that the seller thought it was and the fact that there is some staining to some of the wood shelving - if it checks out that seals are good and it holds temp, I'll offer $650 for it. I could easily live without it if my offer is not accepted so we'll see what happens.

The fact that the seller didn’t have it plugged in, ready for cooling capabilities, seals etc to be verified by any prospective buyer, is a big red flag. Obvious, logical request by any buyer to verify good working condition.

I’d proceed with caution ...

I would pass. From experience, service on any of these units is not fun. From what I’ve read here, I question it’s condition. Spend the additional money for new with extended warranty.
