If the dummy didn't go for the DRC and instead skimmed a bottle here & there of lesser renown, he might still be free. Who would miss an occasional bottle of Comte de Vogue C-M les Amoureuses or Ponsot Clos de la Roche amongst all the DRC? Hell, they're just Tuesday night wines in comparison!

The theft was ongoing for about a year and a half. Imagine living a life where it would take you more than a year to realize someone stole more than a million dollars of wine from your cellar(s).

I have collections of things I haven't looked at in forty years. But I do a physical inventory of the wine cellar every few months.

I am thinking he bought DRC as an investment so he wasn't checking to see if it was still available to serve.

Perhaps most important, what does the lack of oversight resulting in a breech of trust on the part of his personal staff say about investors placing their trust in the people at Goldman?
