Is this something CellarTracker is working on? I see all these spreadsheets posted buy members to manage their cellar layout, and I too have an Excel file to manage this. It shows how many bottles are in each bin and how many can fit. Why can't Cellartracker add a simple utility to input cellar locations, assign each location with a maximum bottle capacity, and then warn you when you are trying to add a bottle to a location that is full. This would avoid having to use another program to manage this.
I am no software engineer, but this s seems like a fairly simple tool to develop and would be of benefit to virtually all users.

A) It it not simple. In fact it is deeply architectural.
B) This has been on our todo list for a long time.
C) Now that we have finished another architectural feature (multiple currency support) that has been hanging over us for years, in fact we have mentioned on a number of threads that the area of storage management is what we are looking to tackle in the coming year.

Fantastic! Glad to hear this is being worked on. I look forward to ditching the Excel spreadsheet.
Many thanks,

Well we haven't started yet. But we have some ideas, and this is one of the next major things for me to tackle. Dan will be tackling full advanced search support in the mobile app.

I wanted to add that I think some sort of physical/visual aid would be very cool for folks who use bins.

I started building a spreadsheet to do this, but quickly discovered that others have done it already.

Bins could be 1 deep (single bottle), 2 deep (double deep single bottles), or diamond bins or bins like Weinbox which hold up to 12, so flexibility on the config would be nice.

Visualization could be how full they are or producers in the bin, etc.

Thanks,
-mark

My excel download from Richard Sandler that I have been using for many years has failed to refresh. Probably a bit jealous when I contacted anevard about using his version, but I need to upgrade Excel to 365 first.
