Status: offline 		Hey it's been since June that our Hartford gang has had an event, but for many of us summertime is pretty busy.
After a bit of thought decided to return to a familiar theme, Cali Cabs. Alternatively if someone wants to bring a Cal Bordeaux blend that's fine.

Thinking of late September possibly the 23rd ideally, or the 30th both Mondays. Of course besides our regulars which is typically a gang of 6, guests are as always welcome and our events often get out of state guests. A few of our gang come up from Southern Jersey to almost every event.

Probably will either do Avert, the French Bistro in W Hartford
Or we might do Peppercorns depending on group consensus. Both have excellent food and service.

Corkage is usually $10 per btl.

So who"s in ?

I have a few mags of mid 90's Cali Cabs that are absolutely begging to be drank, in particular an Arrowood '93 Reserve Speciale.

I think I also have access to a 2010 Ramey CS NV

Should we return to either Avert or Peppercorns ? Does anyone have a preference ?

I know that it's slightly off theme, but is a IS a Cali red, yet I would be thrilled if you bring the '14 Merryvale CF, unless others object.

Chris: any of those wines are fine.

I officially declare a 1.5L magnum of '93 Arrowood Reserve Speciale Cabernet Sauvignon and a bottle of JJ Prüm Graacher Himmelreich (Pradikat & vintage to be determined at a later date).

That's what I was already leaning toward. I like that I have two bottles so I can check it now and let the other one sit for a few more years.
Peppercorns is more convenient for me to Uber but I like both restaurants.

We are at 5 right and likely to be 6 soon as my buddy Joe, not on the boards will likely join us again.

Would love to add a few more folks, we always have a blast, and in case any newcomers have never dined there, Avert is as good a French Bistro as you will find, except for maybe Paris.

Status: offline 		A slight change of plans.... the '93 magnum was slightly corked and very bretty, so I'm pondering a suitable and (similarly) aged magnum as a replacement.

Status: offline 		Man, the NJ Uber driver was moving kinda slow this morning!

That, as always, was a ton of fun and worth the drive. We stopped and got a couple pies at Pepe's on the way home. I do not recommend trying to eat pizza while driving, but fortunately Spray 'n Wash does a great job on grease and tomato.

A side note: Joe at Arrowood is replacing the '93 1.5L with a more current vintage. I think I'm gonna select a '14 Monte Rosso mag, then buy a '14 Knight's Valley mag, and sit them next to the '14 Reserve Speciale mag for a future Arrowood 1.5L Cabernet Sauvignon Horizonta Off-Linel.
