Because of taxes, I have very little discretionary cash for the next month or so.  For fun it is either: buy an iPad2 or get a case of drink-ready Clerc Milon 1990.  (Came across a good deal on the Clerc.  It is the same exact price as the iPad2).  Have read the CT notes on the Clerc (lots of people talk about bad corks and "over-the-hill" "wrong-end-of-the-dog odors").   I guess it is a loaded question on this forum of wine-lovers, but what would you buy with the money?

iPad 2.

I'm no huge apple fan (I don't like their closed garden approach to things), but I have to confess it is always a lot of fun playing with one of their shiny new toys.

My real answer though is neither - I'd buy as much 1971 Latour (Jancis 20 pointer a few days ago and a wine that I simply adored if you see my recent TN) or Haut Brion 1995 (same for recent TN) as the cash would get me.

Buy the wine and don't succumb to the Apple hype!

It's a good point Paul and ll made.

Let me think...the Clerc can be enjoyed over the next 4 or 5 years if its in good shape, the iPad will be out of date a week on Tuesday. Hmm...

I would say the Ipad2: The wine would be enjoyed over 12-24 days, but you can (will) use the IPad every day for at least a year, maybe two. CellarVU app can satisfy your need to spend $$ on something wine-related.

I have the original iPad, my first ever Apple product of any kind of any vintage, and I love it like Parker loves an 07 Rhone.
But, dude, the iPad will be available next few months at the same price; the Clerc Milon sounds like the dealio for now.

Get the iPad, the CellarVU app will allow you to always "carry" your cellar with you.

The Clerc-Milon. Hands down.

Ipad is a useless piece of junk an it'll be obsolete within 6-18 months anyway.

I love Clerc, one of my favourite Pauillacs. I'm not sure whether I'd spring for a case that's already 21-Y-O, though. I prefer it when it's 12-15.

Depends whether you prefer apples or grapes, I suppose...
