Have to confess haven’t updated mine for ages and probably have 50%+ more than currently showing - can’t be the only guilty party? Trouble is I drink and replace then forget what I had and now have - I’ll blame it on the drink!

Guilty! I did an audit over the last long holiday and squared things up, but I "lost" around 200 bottles that were "missing-presumed drunk". Got things organized and I've loaded many new Berserker Day and other purchases since, keeping it straight (I think) 2 whole months in. .

I really need to force myself to do at least an annual audit/cross check; this last one I think had been 3+ years. The longer it's been, the more I know it's off, the less I seem to care. Not all bad per se, but disappointing if you actually go to look for something and it's not there.

Not sure if this subject matter belongs in the "I Suck at CT" thread or the "Joe Le Taxi" thread.

I have to confess, I don't understand how people can spend enormous amounts of time on a Cellartracker discussion board but have Cellartracker database accounts that are out of control.

I mean that's easy to understand. Posting on the forum is very simple and akin to shooting the breeze, while keeping an accurate wine DB requires at least a little bit of effort.

Most of the wines that I am missing are because I didn´t planed to open them, I open them while drunk and the next day I had no recolection of the damage. My problem is that while I am with friends I keep opening wines as long as they are here and more than a tasting it is a party. I plan to live this way as long as physically possible, it is how I roll and how I enjoy the fruits of my work. I am not interested in anything that is formal, for me it has to be laughter and more laughter.

Plenty of folks here just like to chat about wine and don't use the database at all. I found CT for the database, but have become less reliant on it for making buying decisions or comparing my cellar "balance" or whatever, and most of my drinking is at home where the wine is. Most of my forum time is at my workplace so I can avoid actually working. Like now.

Remember Star Trek the Next Generation? A database is the chair the alien officer sits on to recharge and download / upload.

and all this time I've been removing artwork from my cellar walls to make more space for all of the sticky-notes I use to manage my wine collection...

Yeah, not gonna pretend I didn't see this. Old time CT Forum friends will remember my many posts about the "Stealth wine budget"... there is a 3L of 2003 Pichon Lalande in my cellar that got smuggled into the house at 6am while the wife was in the shower

Yep, I suspect many of us have done that. There have been boxes of 3 or 6 bottles left in the car overnight (in proper temperatures) only to be snuck into the cellar while my wife is in her harrowed "I'm late! I'm late!" morning mode.

Keeping cellar info up to date should be a requirement of membership.

I am very relieved that it isn't just me who rushes home to unload yet another delivery into the cellar before the wife notices! Mind you, I think she knows and is secretly totting up what she can reasonably ask for in the way of new jewellery...

What happened to the other two cases and the ferrets?

I do the same. I use CT's label printing feature, and each bottle has a label with notes and bar/QR/number code to it. I often take pictures of that, then will scan back through photos on my phone later and take them out of CT.
