Hi All...we'll be in Croatia for a couple of weeks - Dubrovnik area - and are looking for a few good vineyards to visit within a couple of hours drive. Most interested in whatever gives us an authentic sense of Croatian wine - established but smaller is always preferable but really just interested in any suggestions folks may have. Thanks in advance.

Basically all the most famous vineyards and the best wineries in coastal Croatia are located in the Pelješac peninsula, located about an hour's drive north from Dubrovnik. You really should see especially the appellations of Dingač and Postup, which are located between the villages of Potomje and Orebić - these two are probably the most famous appellations in Croatia.

Most of Peljesac peninsula is for red Plavac Mali, while they make fantastic whites in the island of Korčula, right next to Peljesac. There's a frequent ferry service from Peljesac to Korčula that takes probably 15-20 minutes to cross the strait.

Thanks for the guidance. Did not know about Ann’s familiarity with the region but I guess I shouldn’t be surprised.
