So I will preface this by stating (firmly) that I live in Texas, and am happy to live in such a wonderful place. That said, I'm really happy for those CT users on the other side of the "pond" who have a new Royal Heir. Congratulations to all of you! In honor of the occasion, we opened a nice little sparkling wine, and a nice older bordeaux. Both were (and continue to be) really tasty! I wish the parents the best of luck, and am happy for the family, and for those of our friends who reside in the UK (one of our greatest allies). Cheers!

I guess this is good, but I was more bummed when I heard Dennis Farina passed.

I remember my criminal law professor asked us all on the very first day of law school "how many of you regularly watch 'Law and Order'?" Few people raised their hand, and I was not one of them. So, while I've seen a few episodes, I unfortunately never followed the series.

Some of us on this side of the pond think we should be more evolved and move away from monarchy and being slobbering serfs.

I've never seen so much news coverage dedicated to three peices of info (baby's sex, weight and time of birth). As for those morons stood outside Buckingham Palace taking photos of a peice of paper....well.......I have a word that I could use for them, but I think the forum would block it.

+1 on Farina. That was a real shame.

History tells us that the royal line in Wales was previously Gruffydd. Anglicized the spelling is Griffith.

I think I could take Prince Chuck. Especially if it meant getting back the crown, wealth and lands stolen from my people.

You can have Wales. I just want my lands in Scotland back - Dufftown and the surrounding glens.

Little known fact is that most credit card providers will allow you (under differing circumstances and costs) to have additional cards issued on your account for most any name. Celebrities and the uber wealthy often do this for security reasons.

I have thought about how much fun it would be have one with the Welsh spelling. Imagine the confusion on people's faces when they try and pronounce the name.

What about that great Welsh village called Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch? Surely we could take part of that

When The Current Mrs Yossarian moved to London we went out to Wales for a long weekend. She is French so I got her to ask for directions to the following places.....

Merthyr Tydfil
Cwmfelinfach
Llwynypia

She struggled a bit......as did I to be honest.

I heard James (my first name) is one of the top names being considered. If he ever logs onto CT maybe he could be J-UK.

Farina was excellent in Midnight Run with DeNiro. Great movie.

The current odds are:

George (favourite 4/1), James and Arthur...

Arthur?? That's currently at 9/1... Seriously.... King Arthur???

The odds on Frances is shortening massively....

I think Dennis Farina's finest role was on the hilarious "Get Shorty."  If you haven't seen it, you absolutely should.

Wait, what are we discussing here again?

Anything so long as it is not about how wonderful it is to have a royal baby.

Farina was pretty decent in that wine movie as well.......although his French sucked.

Looks like you guys are getting cheated. We only had to pay about a tenth for ALL our ex-presidents

"The US government spent nearly $3.7 million on former presidents in 2012, according to an analysis just released by the nonpartisan Congressional Research Service. That covers a pension, compensation and benefits for office staff, and the government also picks up the tab for other costs like travel, office space and postage."

"On 1 April 2012, the old Civil List and the Grants-in-Aid were replaced by the single Sovereign Grant. The British Parliament meets the cost of the Sovereign's official expenditure from public funds. This includes the costs of the upkeep of the various royal residences, staffing, travel and state visits, public engagements, and official entertainment. The Sovereign Grant funding system, which covers the royal costs, has been set at £36.1 million for the 2013-14 financial year."

I guess I just look for any excuse to drink wine. Royal baby . . . let's have wine. It's Tuesday . . . let's have wine. I made it to work in record time . . . let's have wine. You know---I always try to celebrate the important occasions in life.

I got my riding mower back today, after a month in the shop (and a month of having to mow my yard with a push-mower in this sweltering heat). That calls for a glass of Bordeaux!
