As there are now 547 CT  users residing in Hong Kong, just wondering if anyone is interested in organizing a wine tasting here? There was a mention of doing a gathering in either HK or Singapore last  year (2010) but I'm not sure what came of that. If anyone wants to organize such an event, I've already created a facebook group named "CellarTracker Users Hong Kong" so please feel free to use that to organize something or post anything wine related that may be of interest to other CT users in HK.

I have been away from the forum for too long!

I'd be happy to organise an evening up at Crown Wine Cellars for any of the Hong Kong contingent, travel does get in the way for me though but if we can find a Friday night that works I'm sure I can get a pass.

Kingkanu, when will your dates be confirmed? I'm back in the UK from the 8th to 17th so might miss each other again!

I know it sounds lame but work has got a little more taxing over the last year which has seen both my personal time and also dedication to wine diminish. Have promised myself to make a little more effort again and am looking forward to the first HK Cellartracker event sometime this year.

I'm traveling for the next week or so so can't do anything really until the last week of August but can try to fit a drink in then.

Right, now you're back shall we try to get this thing going? I'm starting to realise how little I actually know about wine and need educating ...

Sorry, hope you weren't all waiting for me! I can probably offer 23 or 30 Sept, or 25 nov and possibly 28th Oct based around current travel. Can invite along one or two other CT users although not forum users if you're happy with a bigger crowd.

I'm happy to organize something but as mentioned I travel a lot so can't guarantee it will be regular or frequent.

Thanks, very kind offer Wrighty. Shall we go for 30 Sept (I could also probably do 28 Oct or 25 Nov but can't do 23 Sept)? How would it work? Choose a theme, set a price range and everyone BYOB? Or a more formal tasting?

And in the meantime if anyone wants to meet before, just for a social, PM me. I'm happy with a steak and a glass of wine/beer someplace.

OK, let's go with the 30th.

From my experience of a few of the London CT events I've been to would suggest we go with BYOB and let people bring what they want and how many they want. If we hold it at Crown they have a great list we can tap into later if that's the way it heads. it's as much about meeting new friends and trying new wines IMO

If everyone is happy with Crown Wine Cellars I'll book. Do we want dinner or just drinking! If everyone is OK I'll invite a couple of friends who are CT users although not of the forum.

Grand. I'll bring a 98 Dead Arm or 2005 Barde-Haut depending on whether we want new or old world. Or I could do both!

edit: food's a good idea I reckon, btw

Could go with the Dead Arm and bring along a Cote Rotie or I think an E&E of late 90's age.

Only seems to be three for now. Seems we're waiting for Godot again!

Plan B - Watson's wine week grand tasting 27th and 28th October could be a good opportunity to to meet. Although I'm still game for a more intimate event.

DP - have you been to one before? Haven't been for a while as they were a bit of a bun fight but could be easily persuaded.

So far there is still only 3 of us for the 30th so not sure if we want to proceed.

Not been before. Is it too much of a bun fight? I hate queuing ... I thought (hoped) since it's ticketed it might not be so crowded.

Last one I went to from memory had huge crowds of people at anything 'famous' which meant you had to get in early if you wanted to try the wines. Then a few of the Bordelaise bought the same lesser vintage as the year before, not the new rated vintage! Couple of highlights was the man from Gunderloch take me aside for a drop of trockenbeerenauslese and Nick Farr pouring his own wines though.
