V3.7.4 Man oh man, I have been a bad boy about release notes over the past 6 months. Oh well, time to turn over a new leaf I guess. Just a short note on a couple of things: - At long, long, LONG last, there are now icons for printer-friendly output. This could frankly use some more fine tuning, but the meat of it is there already. The icons pop up a new window sans navigation tab and header. And on the wine drilldown the fairly useless transaction history is suppressed.
- There have been increasing problems of late with a specific performance issue that sometimes causes some caches to get stale when you add a bottle/purchase or drink a bottle. Numerous people have complained of 'missing' wines. No actual data is lost, and there are several forum threads on this. Anyway, today is step 1 in a 4 step plan to eradicate this. Step 1 was to nail the specific slow operation which was causing timeouts. This should largely eliminate the issue going forward. Step 2, I will tackle later tonight--regenerating all of the caches. Step 3 will take a lot more painstaking work on my part to add SQL transactioning in a whole lot of places to serve as the ultimate bulletproofer in case the timeouts ever do occur--to leave everything in a consistent state. This will occur in early April once I'm back from a 3 week trip (currently underway). Step 4 will be one more cache regeneration for good measure.
Anyway, that's all for now. I now that the pace of new features has slowed a great deal over the past 6 months. This is something I hope to address in the coming months by hiring several new members of the CellarTracker team. The great news is that business is booming and can clearly support the added staff. Anyway, more on that in the coming months...
