BARCODE LABEL PRINTING I did a complete rewrite of the pages used for printing barcode labels. The guts are the same, but now this page is about 50x faster than before at initial rendering and offers a much cleaner and more WYSIWYG user interface for previewing and printing. The printing page also now validates that it is being run in Internet Explorer for Windows with the Dymo printing software also installed. Folks using all non-handheld browsers can now see the label listing, and in the near future I will offer a CSV output option and a much more extensive FAQ. Using this, even Mac users will be able to do label printing either with the Dymo software or even with mail merge to Avery labels. NOTE from 2009: no local barcode templates are required. Just follow the instructions here: http://www.cellartracker.com/ow.asp?BarcodeProcedures FIT AND FINISH - I raised the maximum length of an appellation from 40 characters to 50 in order to allow "Côtes du Rhône Villages Beaumes-de-Venise" and other names that are just a bit too long.
- The drinking windows in the main cellar views now show their source (Personal, Wine Advocate, Wine Spectator, Intl. Wine Cellar, BurgHound, and Community Average) in a tooltip that shows up when hovering.
- My recent change to show line breaks (where entered) in tasting notes was somewhat incomplete. I extended this to tasting notes from others in the wine drilldown as well as the BARCODE.ASP page (which also now shows each user's own notes ahead of those from others).
- I disabled the attempted horizontal row shading for browsers other than Internet Explorer for Windows, as this was causing (silent) errors in FireFox and presumably other DHTML-aware browsers.
- I cleaned up the testimonial hyperlinks to use the new hyperlink syntax on the Squire's board.
- I fixed an age-old bug where setting a descending sort via the advanced query UI would deaden the clickable column headers. (The bug has been here as long as the site has existed.)
- I did a little band-aid cleanup to the tasting notes UI so that it is easier to publish results based on an advanced search. I need to rejigger how this page works with regard to the publishing UI, as it is pretty awkward right now.
