The name No Girls simply gives our respect to everyone who created the Walla Walla Valley we enjoy today.

And we mean everyone.

The story on the website before this statement makes some sense.

But, in my opinion, the use of a macho, sexist (on the surface) name to draw attention, will backfire. I took the time to read the reason behind the name. I doubt most would and I think it's a bad idea.

That said, I'm sure the wine is great, and the mailing list will fill up immediately.

- I understand what you are saying, and to some extent I agree with it, but, and here's the rub, I've read a certain thread this week that had something to do with passing on $500 bottles of Napa juice. My takeaway is the same as it's ever been - there's an ass for every seat. Some people are so numb, they don't get the macho-sexist bs. Never mind the fact that people will spend a lot of money on juice they never even tasted.

Which is to say it's consistent with your conclusion.

Agree, Chris.  I read the story too, but it's just somewhat off-putting.

Jay Miller loves it.

But then, he's Jay Miller, so that doesn't really tell you a thing.

Well, as Drycab will tell you, I'm that seat-warmer...

Do I like the name/label? Not particularly. Does it offend me? Not particularly. Personally I think we take P.C. Way to far these days. As I said on Berserkers, if you like Cayuse and have the budget, buy the wines. If you don't, than don't. If you are put off by the marketing, than buy and drink what makes you feel good. I signed up in a heartbeat, my decision to buy will come based on how I feel at that time related to budget, space, etc.

I know this;I like Cayuse, I love their vineyards, I think Trevor is a great guy and I think Christophe is an great winemaker. Yeah, I'll be willing to buy untasted because of all the reasons previously stated and because if I waited around to taste the wine I'd earn a place on a pretty long wait list to buy it.

As I (coincidentally) sat sipping an '05 Camaspelo tonight, I am happy to get Cayuse wines. No Girls won't likely be any different, and if I'm in the least uncomfortabe about the label than that's what decanters are for.

Which is to say it's consistent with your conclusion.

I don't consider myself politically correct necessarily, but considering who I share a wine budget and most of my wine with, I just think of my decision not to sign up as preventative healthcare.

See post above mine. ^

I totally understand Chris, my wife was the one who saw the email and signed us up within minutes. However, I'm still hearing how she isn't fond of the name.

I'll tell you what...how about I sell you one of my bottles, but I'll ship it to you in a two-pack, the other bottle being Tait 'Ballbuster' Shiraz. That should keep harmony in Sunnyside...

I guess it depends on how you look at from a business perspective...balance between attention/awareness and negativity. I'm sure they decided the defensible name will allow them to get away with the potential negative side effects and benefit from the attention/awareness. Personally I think it's a stupid name for a wine regardless of the explanation.

That Tait the Ballbuster should be called Tait the Liver Killer. The last one I had was really alcoholic (although that did not stop me)

I think that everyone is a little too easily offended nowadays. That being said, not exactly marketing genius to choose that name.

If the WA is correct and the price is $55, I'd really like to taste before buying. But, Trevor is a really great guy so I wouldn't might supporting him.

I don't like the name, but judging from the attention it's drawing and that there is already a wait list, I'd say that it has had its desired effect.

Nor about Big Ass Zin (yes, there is such a wine, and I once had a bottle in my cellar. Wasn't awful, but nothing to write home about).

If it is good wine, I'll be pouring it in another bottle before serving it to MY wife. And luckily she hasn't heard or will hear about what a 1st class Plonker Charles Smith is.

I've been away from the computer for several days and just saw the e-mail this pm. I did sign up to see what happens. As for the name, msG thinks most of the stuff I drink tastes like crap anyway. It will just reinforce her take on my tastes.
