I will be in town for a conference and have a free night on Tuesday October 11th. Any CTers in the Minneapolis area who may want to meet for an offline? Never been to Minneapolis so I have no idea where to go to eat, drink, and be merry.

Sorry it's not a weekend, I'd run up from Madison to join you...

Sorry for not getting back to you. Have been crazy busy. Will you be around on Tuesday evening? That appears to be my only free night. I am arriving late afternoon, early evening.

Craig,

If you're plans fall through you might just head over to The Local off of the Nicolette Mall, it is an Irish Pub that I grew pretty fond of the year I was in Minneapolis. There are plenty of good places off of Nicolette Mall to get something to eat. If you fancy a steak, Manny's and Murray's were the two old-school steak houses downtown, not sure what the BYO policy was.

Sorry, don't get out that way much anymore. Fun town though...except in February

The Local is awesome, and I actually think their steak is very very good.  The meal I had at The Local was the best part of my senior prom ... until I dropped my louse of a date off at her house before hanging out with friends for the balance of the evening ... well, at least she was hot, so our pictures turned-out well.

i might end up being free on Tuesday. If not, as mentioned, The Local, is a good choice. I would also recommend Bar La Grassa.

Thanks for the advice! I'll likely try the Local on Tuesday night. mn_horn, send me a PM if you feel up to something (or the Local). I've never been to Minneapolis so any suggestion sounds great to me. I will be staying at a place called The Foshay.

If you want some good beer --- I mean, like, *really good beer*, check out Barley John's.  Their Wild Brunette is absolutely to die for!  ... {sigh}, I've had so many pints in that little house ... I miss that place! http://barleyjohns.com/

I don't remember the name of the place, but I seem to recall there is a very good restaurant in the bottom floor of the Foshay Tower.  Maybe it's Un Deux Trois?

Thanks Brian. I'll let you know if I end up getting there. A brown rice Belgian style ale...Sounds interesting.

Although I'm in Minneapolis today, I arranged for an appointment at the Vet for my dog tonight. I just saw your replies. Sorry about the miscommunication, next time you're in town, we can meet up.

I ended up going to a great tapas joint called Solera. Fabulous tapas and some nice wines by the glass. Will try to hit the Local for a pint in the next day or so.
