I am curious how people feel about this. The same port can be labeled as either "Taylor" or "Taylor Fladgate":

quote:

Also, you may want to keep double entries for Taylor and Taylor Fladgate. They are the same wine but are labeled differently in differrent markets. The firm Taylor Fladgate & Yeatman labels and markets its vintage port as Taylor throughout most of the world with the exception of the US whre it is Taylor Fladgate. The name Taylor is already trademarked in the US by Constellation Brand's jug wine of the same name. As a result, any non-US user would only know about Taylor.

There has been a recent request to consolidate these, presumably under the "Taylor Fladgate" name, as all professional scores and reviews as well as personal tasting notes are in fact for the same wine.

So what do people think? It would take me all of 30 seconds to smunch 'em all together, but undoing it would be a real PITA...

They should be combined if they are the same wine. It makes little sense to be looking at Taylor 1977 and missing the tasting notes for Taylor Fladgate 1977 given that they are exactly the same wine.

They are the same wine. In concept, and I haven;t heard this yet, the distinction is only interesting to track if you buy the wine in the UK and the US and want to tell them apart. Then again, CellarTracker lets you do that by associating specific purchases with specific bottles and barcoding them. (Plus the bottle labeling will make it self apparent.)

Anyway, Bueller, Bueller, anyone want to say that these should not be combined?
