I know the Colonel normally starts these things, but after a conversation with Pjaines and some PM silence on the colonels part (where for art thou colonel?) I thought I'd get the ball rolling.

I propose our usual festive fun, potentially at the Hyde (assuming the tobster can get some good terms for us) on either Friday the 30th Nov or Saturday the 1st December. pjaines will be dressing as Santa and providing a lovely present (after a brief 'lap-talk as he calls it) and we shall as ever endeavor to drink the finest wines know to humanity in as quicker a fashion as possible.

So who else is up for it - and what date suits (Fri for me is best)?

And colonel if you have something else up your sleeve do over-ride this post

Xmas in November? You are clearly crazy people.

Would love to trog along but a week or so later is better. Having said that I am guessing December is a busy month for Gareth so I'll be as flexible as possible

Am guessing we will hear from the Colonel in a week or two when he is back in Blighty (I assume)

Happy to go for another date - they just happen to be the easiest for me. 15 & 22 of December could also possibly work, though the need to get back to Solihull that night means an early departures for me to leave the rest of the drinking to more capable people

I'd love to meet up, but time is a little tricky, we're heading off on 12th dec this year so would have to be before then for me, say a date and I'll try and make it

Just packed and off to New York for a week in the morning. Second birthday in a row I'll have been on a plane for most of it

Yes I've not heard anything either - anyone got his mobile??

Should we provisionally go for the 8th meeting late afternoon? That seems to be a date most people can make. Khamen is it any good for you? Treetops any chance you might be able to make that night?

8th is going to be a challenge for me as a really good friend is turning 40 that weekend so I'm going to be in Bath.

Given that Khamen is only allowed to be within 8 paces of a bottle of wine 3 times a year I doubt he'll be interested. Unless he wants a bottle of non-alcholic grape juice.

On the plus side for Khamen he now has a 32 inch waist.

No not yet. We are all a little concerned. Toby has his number in Dubai and Gareth and myself have asked Toby to call him. I'll give Toby a call tomorrow. We miss The Colonel.

Tobs is the 8th a definite no for you?? What if we were to do something over lunch and into the afternoon rather than an evening thing?? Would that be better? Just trying to find a way of getting everyone along

I've only got his UK landline and one mobile number. Guess you've got those already? Shame I don't have a contact number for his daughter who lives in town I believe?

Colonel update.

He is not dead.

Tobes called his house tonight and his "man servant" said he was out for dinner with his wife.

Good news - although it obviously begs the question about what IF he was dead - what would happen to all that Bordeaux? I think we need to know.

With you & Toby in London?

I know you guys would form a "liberation front".

No doubt in my mind.

Indeed - kind of the first middle eastern liberation front I can remember supported by the Americans.

Apart from the wines are in England.

How about an English Liberation Front of Judea? Or is it the Peoples front of England?

A lunch or afternoon thing would be fine for me, I tried the 28-50 in marylebone today, their collectors list was so much better than fetter lane, we had a 78 volnay les santenots from Potinet ampeau at a great price, just a lovely mature light burgundy, perfect for lunch !
