We have quite a few people dropping in this week after launch of the new site. Don't be shy, all are welcome. This is good a place as any to get answers on all things wine, and is generally a lot more relaxed and less intimidating than some wine boards, but with plenty of wise old heads knocking around.

A quick summary of some of the most commonly updated threads:

Active Users - general chat both wine and non-wine related. From sharing a "good morning" to discussing what's on your mind
I just drank - pretty self explanatory, good place to discuss events/share thoughts on the recently consumed
What are you going to drink tonight - celebrating? Special meal? Make us all jealous
What showed up in the mail today - had something interesting turn up today?
The moratorium - the "naughty step" for people who are showing self-restraint and not buying any wine right now
Tasting Notes to Note - seen a funny one on CT and want to share? This is the place
Smoking deals at wine retailers - for when you got a hot tip you want to pass on
What form does your cellar take - gratuitous user cellar p*rn. Building tips, projects and pics.
Friday first pour - what are you unwinding with at the end of the week?
Joe le taxi - Penguin, penguin!

As well as these there are obviously countless threads and polls on pairing wine and food, regions, producers, and pretty much a fairly comprehensive slice of life (once you have removed the sex, politics and religion which our leader Eric sensibly asks is avoided)

So welcome again and don't be afraid to contribute

K

Nicely said, Khamen, but where's the part about sacrificing virgins and eating kebabs?

Khamen usually stays away from the Postings after 1 whole bottle consumed alone thread. I'm thinking he doesn't want to incriminate himself.

Indeed, well said Khamen. Welcome to all those perusing the forums for the first time!

CiS, I thought it was sacrificing kebabs and eating virgins...I've apparently been doing it wrong this whole time

Please introduce yourself on the active user thread and if you could give us some sort of location to know what time zone you are in is a nice way to make a first post. Never take anything put on the boards personally, as that is almost never an intention of a post. Many times we make mistakes while consuming, we screw things up and the implications can be from a simple mess up to something that sounds cataclysmic. It will generally be edited at a later time. Feel free to PM somebody if you need clarification.

Note that myself and Grafstrb and I can get wordy, but are generally harmless. Darned technical writing classes.

See a messed up write there.

All three of you huh? What were you drinking tonight, Dave? (and don't take this personally)

I think I left one out. Must have been thinking about me, myself and I. Usually the brain, the right hand and the left hand are rarely on the same page, especially in Winter.

I have often thought we could use a sticky for abbreviations.

How about a new thread on Joe le Plumber?

And especially if one has been consuming vino.
You still need to find a way down to a PAWineTalk event.
